FDA take hold of sanitizer's worth of Rs 50 lakh

The food and drug administration (FDA) investigators invaded a warehouse in Waluj area of Aurangabad on Sunday. Over there, few people were removing stickers from expired hand sanitizer bottles and pasting new stickers with a higher maximum retail price (MRP) and changed expiry dates.

The episode has brought infront the face of some people from pharmaceutical industry who are trying to exploit the current situation and make profit by cheating innocent customers. At present, Maharashtra has reported the highest number of coronavirus confirmed cases in the country.

FDA joint commissioner informed that with the successful raid, the staff of Eurolife Healthcare, which is situated in MIDC Waluj, an industrial area of Aurangabad was caught as they were changing existing stickers with new ones reading 2021 as their new expiry date.

An official informed that the detained sanitizers were found manufactured in Gujarat and the company markets the product. The total estimate of the detained sanitizers is estimated to Rs 50 lakh. Sources said that the accused were planning to supply these sanitizers in the market due to the increasing demand.
