275 confirmed coronavirus cases in India, more updates on COVID-19

On 20th March, Dehradun in Uttarakhand has confirmed a case of the novel coronavirus after Madhya Pradesh confirmed 4 such cases in Jabalpur. The number of confirmed cases has reached 275 with the deaths of 4 people in Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka each. As the number of confirmed cases are rising across the world, governments are gearing up to assist settings for social distancing with the shutdown of schools, colleges, malls, parks, movie theatres and other public places too.

West Bengal reports its 3rd confirmed case as a 23-year-old woman tested positive for COVID-19. The patient had a travel history from Edinburgh, UK to Kolkata on 19th March and was suffering from fever. The airport authorities directly sent her to ID Hospital and she was tested positive for coronavirus the next morning.

Mainland China has reported 41 new cases of coronavirus infections on Friday, which brings the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 81,008. The total death count from the coronavirus outbreak has reached 3,255 on Friday.

Pakistan has confirmed its third death due to COVID-19. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has crossed 500 yesterday.

In the meantime, a day after the Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor tested positive for coronavirus, a case has been filed against her in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. She had a travel history to London, and had attended a party at a 5-star hotel where many guests, including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and her son BJP MP Dushyant Singh, were also present. Raje and Singh had already put themselves under self-quarantine.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the government will pay Rs 1,000 each to 15 lakh daily wage laborers and 20.37 lakh construction workers for their daily needs. He said that the total number of coronavirus cases in the state has increased to 23. Out of these cases, 9 people have recovered.

Maharashtra government official reported the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state has reached 63 as 11 new cases were reported since Friday evening,

My Gov India, an official handle of the government of India, sent out a tweet on Saturday morning in an effort to gather support for the Janta Curfew proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the advisory, the whole country has been requested to observe a curfew on Sunday i.e. 22nd March 2020 between 7 am and 9 pm.

A young man who returned to Telangana from France on 12th March has disobeyed the compulsory quarantine and got married in Warangal a few days ago. Almost 1,000 guests had attended the wedding.

Rajasthan reported a total number of 23 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Rajasthan with the 6 new cases from the state.
