Screening for alcohol use may help identify patients who should be subjected to further screening for adverse mental health conditions and other substance use, suggests a new study.

Investigators have noted that high alcohol used scores were significantly associated with depression, anxiety, and crack, cocaine, or other stimulant use. The study was published online March 12 in JAMA Network Open.
