In men with high-risk prostate cancer, imaging with prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET-CT before curative surgery or radiotherapy seems considerably more accurate than conventional imaging for detecting metastatic disease, noted a randomized trial published in The Lancet.

In 295 patients, gallium-68 PSMA-11 PET-CT imaging had an accuracy of 92% (area under the curve [AUC] of the receiver operating characteristic curve) compared to 65% with standard CT imaging and bone scans, reported researchers.
