Doctors should take special precautions to prevent of getting infected by coronavirus at designated health services and also at other centers. A Delhi doctor got infected by the novel COVID-19 from a 38 year old woman who had visited him at a mohalla clinic in northeast Delhi around 15 days back.

Initially, the doctor, was admitted to GTB Hospital but on Monday night shifted to Safdarjung Hospital after he complained of difficulty in breathing. Dr Harish Gupta, who is his colleague and President of Delhi Medical Association had told TOI that he was in the ICU but now his condition is stable and was shifted to the isolation room. He further said that the doctor’s wife and daughter are also tested positive for coronavirus and their swab samples are sent for re-confirmation. They both are in a stable condition.

In the meantime, Delhi government is scanning over the names of all patients the doctor had seen at the mohalla clinic after been in contact with the 38 year old woman. Government data has shown 5 of Delhi’s 30 novel coronavirus confirmed cases, excluding the woman, who are linked to her.

District health officials said that almost 74 people staying in her neighborhood are under observation. An official said that as the woman tested positive for coronavirus, they rushed to her residence to inquire her family for names and addresses of people who visited them from 10th March, the day which she had returned from Dubai. The family members were not very cooperative, so they had to take the help of local police to get information. They have also used the footage from CCTV cameras to find people who are required to be put under observation.

The woman’s brother and mother stay in northeast Delhi’s Jahangirpuri and the people who came in contact with them are also being screened.
