COVID-19 death count reaches 100,000 worldwide

According to the count kept by Johns Hopkins University, the worldwide death toll from the coronavirus has hit 100,000 globally. Public health officials are cautioning people against violating the social distancing rules over Easter which can allow the virus to stir up.

South Africa has Africas most reported cases with over 2,000, but the frequency of new confirmed cases has slowed in the first two weeks of lockdown.

Marty Wright, CEO of the West Virginia Health Care Association, has said that the supply of personal protective equipment is decreasing as facilities are rushing to buy gear in a crowded marketplace by skyrocketing hikes and delayed deliveries.

New national data report states that in USA, around 119 people out of every 100,000 people were hospitalized with the COVID-19 infection.

The mayor of Russias capital has said that a system of passes will be put into effect from the next week to improve compliance with restrictions on movement to obstruct the spread of the coronavirus.

Medical staffs amount for approximately 15% of all contagions in Spain that has increased on Friday to 157,000 confirmed cases. Almost 15,800 people have died ever since the epidemic started.

Britains death count has passed the daily peaks recorded in Italy and Spain. Italy reported a high of 969 deaths on 27th March and Spain 950 deaths on 2nd April.

Greece has extended its lockdown period on preschools, schools and universities till 10th May. Greek authorities said a total 21 people are tested positive for coronavirus in a majority-Roma neighborhood of the central city of Larissa. 56 new cases in Larissa were recorded between Thursday and Friday evening, taking the countrys total to 2,011. Four new deaths were reported with the total death count to 90.

The Irish government has extended the lockdown in the country by 3 weeks until 5th May.

Puerto Rico reported the 1st death of a doctor from coronavirus infection. Puerto Rico has reported almost 39 deaths and approximately 720 positive cases with more than 1,390 test results awaiting.

Serbia has reported 3,105 confirmed cases, while 71 people have died in the country.

Israel has restricted movement across the country to hold the outbreak. It has confirmed over 10,000 cases and at least 92 deaths.

The NATO-led troops in Kosovo had reported the 1st coronavirus case among its troops. Kosovo has already confirmed7 deaths and 227 confirmed cases.
