India's COVID-19 cases crosses the 9,000 mark with death count reaching to 300

On Sunday, India’s count of coronavirus cases had crossed 9,000 whereas the death count had crossed 300 count. In a single day, 763 new cases and 39 deaths were reported from states. Maharashtra has heavily reported new cases as well death due to the virus.

Maharashtra confirmed 221 new cases and 22 deaths. The state has recorded 1982 coronavirus cases and 149 deaths so far. Mumbai alone has accounted for 16 deaths, which is the highest count in a day with 152 new cases.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached at 9,188 with 763 fresh cases, whereas the death count was 329.

The coronavirus outbreak has spread to more than 350 districts, almost covering 50% of the country.

Delhi reported 85 fresh cases, taking its total count to 1,154 – the second highest after Maharashtra. 5 people succumbed to the coronavirus infection in Delhi, taking the total toll to 24.

Approximately 64% of the total cases in Delhi were related to the Nizamuddin cluster. On more hotspot in the state is a cancer hospital in east Delhi i.e. Delhi State Cancer Institute. 26 people including doctors, nurses and some patients are found positive for the coronavirus. On Sunday, one cancer patient, who was shifted to a private hospital was confirmed positive. His attendant was also tested positive for the COVID-19.

Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan, also recorded 106 and 104 new cases, taking their total count to 1,075 and 804, respectively. Both states also reported new death, 1 death in Tamil Nadu and 2 deaths in Rajasthan.

Agra has now emerged as a new hotspot for the coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh. Out of the 491 cases reported in the state, Agra district accounts for 104 cases.

Gujarat reported 48 new cases, taking the state’s count to 516. 39 cases were recorded from Ahmedabad city alone, taking the city’s count to 282. Vadodara became the 2nd Gujarat city to cross the three-figure mark, with its count rising to 101.

Karnataka confirmed 17 new coronavirus cases taking the total count to 232.

One more person died due to coronavirus infection in Andhra Pradesh taking the state’s death count to two. A total of 420 people are confirmed positive in the state.

In Telangana, 2 more people died from coronavirus on Sunday taking its death count to 16. Telanganas overall coronavirus count rose to 531.

Kerala, recorded only 2 positive cases on Sunday whereas 36 people were declared recovered and were tested negative for the COVID-19.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 21 new COVID-19 cases were reported, taking the total count to 245. Two more positive cases of coronavirus were detected in Jharkhand taking the total number in the state to 19 of which 17 people are active cases and 2 had died.

In Chhattisgarh’s, 13 people tested positive on Sunday in Katghora town – which was sealed 3 days back after 8 people got infected due to contact with a group of Jamaatis who were isolated in a mosque. This small town accounts for 22 cases of Chhattisgarh’s 30 cases.
