Delhi record 356 new COVID-19 cases in a single day with 4 deaths

On Monday, Delhi and Maharashtra saw a heavy rush in coronavirus cases. Delhi recorded 356 new cases and the western state 352, highest single day counts. These two states together account for 37% India’s coronavirus count that has crossed the 10k reaching at 10,450.

Delhi is still paying a heavy price for the Tablighi outbreak with 79% of COVID-19 cases related to the Nizamuddin markaz. These cases are ‘under special operations’ by Delhi government.

On Monday, the overall count includes 1,276 new cases, which is the highest so far with a sharp margin of 67% rise from the count reported on Sunday that was 763. The death count due to the COVID-19 has been reported at 358. Maharashtra and Delhi account for 188 of the total deaths, 160 deaths in Maharashtra and 28 deaths in Delhi.

UP also reported a huge spike adding 112 cases, taking the count of cases to 589.

The health ministry stated that almost 25 districts which had coronavirus cases did not report new cases any for the last 14 days. The infection has been reported from 380 of India’s 732 districts as of now. Almost 857 people have recovered from the coronavirus infection.

Maharashtra has reported 2,334 coronavirus cases, followed by Delhi (1,510), Tamil Nadu (1,173) and Rajasthan (897).

Tamil Nadu has reported 11 coronavirus deaths that includes a 56-year-old orthopaedic surgeon from Nellore who died in a private hospital in Chennai on Monday. The state has registered 98 new cases, which includes three doctors.

In Karnataka, a 55-year-old patient died in Kalaburagi district, taking the total count of deaths in the state to 7. Karnataka cases count rose to 247, with 15 fresh cases on Monday.

In Telangana, one person died and 61 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported. The overall coronavirus count reached 592. 103 people have recovered and 17 people had died due to the deadly virus.

Gujarat reported 56 new coronavirus cases taking the total count to 572 positive cases. Death count in the state has reached to 26 after two more deaths from Ahmedabad and Vadodara, each were recorded on Monday.

In UP, a three-month-old baby boy is tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. The patient is a contact and relative of Hasnain Ali, a 24 year-old youth, who was diagnosed of COVID-19 subsequently at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur.

The baby is UP’s youngest COVID-19 positive patient. Earlier to him, an 8-month-old baby in Noida was tested positive and was declared as the youngest case in the state. On a nationwide scale, a 3-day-old baby in Mumbai is India’s youngest Covid-19 patient. The baby born to a couple in Chembur is undergoing treatment at Kasturba Hospital.

Kerala continues to have a decreasing trend in coronavirus incidence. On Monday, only three positive cases were reported whereas 19 people have recovered, after successive negative tests. The state has reported 378 cases since the coronavirus outbreak.

In Bihar, 2 more persons tested positive for coronavirus, taking the number to 66. Jharkhand reported 5 new cases, taking the states count of the novel coronavirus cases to 24. Out of them, 22 are active cases, while two people have died because of the virus.
