Almost 3,336 Indians are infected abroad with 785 in Kuwait and 634 in Singapore

According to the official sources, almost 3,336 Indian nationals abroad have been tested positive for the COVID-19 and another 25 people have died. A large number of Indian patients are in Kuwait and Singapore, also spread across 53 countries.

As per the break-up of those infected, 785 people are in Kuwait, 634 are in Singapore and 420 in Qatar. Almost 308 are infected in Iran, 297 in Oman, 238 in UAE, 186 in Saudi Arabia and 135 in Bahrain. The list also includes 91 patients in Italy, 37 in Malaysia, 36 in Portugal, 29 in Ghana, 24 in the US, 15 in Switzerland and 13 in France.

India has till now avoided evacuating Indians from abroad those are tested positive for coronavirus as practiced by several other countries. It has asked Indian missions in respective countries to be in touch with them and assist treatment for them with the help of local authorities.

Other Indians who are stranded abroad too have been asked to stay wherever they are as flights are suspended till 3rd May.

11 of the 25 deaths of Indian nationals have taken place in the US. Sources said that almost 35,000 foreigners from 48 countries who are stranded in India would be evacuated soon.

Iran, was the one of the worst hit countries and alone had earlier accounted for 255 of coronavirus infections. The number of Indian nationals infected in UAE was then was 12 but it has now reached 238. A month ago, there were no Indian cases in Singapore and now it has reached 634. Also, Kuwait had only 1 Indian infected at that time. The Indian government’s first priority is to bring back those Indians who have no coronavirus symptoms.
