The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), addressing a virtual meeting of the G20 leading global economies on Sunday, stated that while it was encouraging that some countries were planning to ease lockdowns against COVID-19, it was important that these measures are a phased process.

As some countries such as Austria, Germany and Italy, begin to announce an easing of restrictions, given the encouraging data such as reduction in the number of cases and hospital deaths, WHO chief said that it was important to see lifting the lockdown restrictions as not the end of the epidemic.
