Coronavirus case-doubling rate reduces to 7.5 days from previous 3.4 days

In India, the rate of coronavirus cases are doubled in India. It has gone up to 7.5 days from every 3.4 days before the national lockdown was imposed on 24th March. The officials said that it is highlighting the impact of strict social distancing and containment measures.

At present, 18 states have a controlled doubling rate than the national average of 7.5 days. Kerala and Odisha has registered a rate of more than 30 days. In Kerala, the time of doubling of cases is 72.2 days, while in Odisha, it is 39.8 days.

Lav Agarwal, joint secretary in the health ministry, said that the doubling rate of coronavirus cases are calculated by using growth over the last 7 days indicating that India’s doubling rate has improved.

Delhi has a doubling rate in 8.5 days, Karnataka in 9.2 days, Telangana 9.4 days, Andhra Pradesh 10.6 days, Jammu and Kashmir 11.5 days, Punjab 13.1 days, Chhattisgarh 13.3 days, Tamil Nadu 14 days and Bihar 16.4 days.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands has doubling rate in 20.1 days, Haryana in 21 days, Himachal Pradesh in 24.5 days, Chandigarh in 25.4 days, Assam in 25.8 days, Uttarakhand in 26.6 days and Ladakh in 26.6 days.

Many districts have joined the list of places with no cases for a considerable period of time. Mahe in Puducherry and Kodagu in Karnataka, Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand has not reported any new case in the last 28 days. Also, 59 districts in 23 states/UTs have not reported any new case in the past 14 days. All coronavirus patients are recovered and discharged from hospital in Goa.

The health ministry reported a total 17,265 confirmed cases out of which 14,175 are active cases. About 1,553 fresh cases and 36 new deaths were confirmed in the last 24 hours. Presently, 14.75% coronavirus cases have recovered till now.
