Gujarat becomes the 2nd worst-hit state due to COVID-19 in India, nationwide 39 deaths recorded

The severity of the coronavirus outbreak continues to grow in Maharashtra and Gujarat with these two western states, which accounts for more than 52% of the total 1,273 new cases recorded across India. On Wednesday 39 new deaths were reported, out of them 18 are from Maharashtra and 13 are from Gujarat.

Gujarat emerged as the second worst affected state after Maharashtra with 229 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours on Wednesday. Maharashtra reported 431 new cases.

Delhi is the third worst affected state in the country with 92 fresh cases, taking the total count to 2,248. Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi account for over 48% of the total 21,355 cases in India. India’s death count has reached 683.

Conversely, 16% of coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease across states. Delhi recorded maximum recoveries of 724, followed by Tamil Nadu (662), Rajasthan (344) and Kerala (308).

Maharashtra’s total number of cases has reached at 5,649. The total death count in the state is 269 and Mumbai alone accounts for 161 deaths. Mumbai has reported 10 deaths in the last 24 hours.

On the other hand, there is a 22% dip in cases in Maharashtra as compared to Tuesday and in Mumbai, the dip is 45%.

Gujarat’s death count rose to 103, is the second state after Maharashtra to cross the 100-mark. Out of the 13 deaths, 9 deaths were recorded from Ahmedabad while 3 were from Vadodara and one from Valsad. Gujarat’s recovery rate is 7.4%.

UP recorded 101 fresh coronavirus cases and no new deaths. The states total count is at 1,465.

In Rajasthan, 153 fresh cases were recorded, taking the total to 1,888. A 55-year-old woman, who succumbed while undergoing treatment at Sawai Man Singh Hospital, was confirmed positive. Rajasthan’s total death count has reached 27.

In Telangana, one person died and 15 new cases tested positive, taking the total count of cases in the state to 943 and the death count to 23.

Andhra Pradesh also reported 56 new cases, taking the total number of cases to 813. Two deaths were reported taking the count to 24.
