Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Modi announced a total lockdown in the country a month ago when there were some 500 COVID-19 cases in India. The average daily growth in cases was estimated at 21.6% on March 24, which has since come down to 8.1%.

However, a growth rate of 8.1% three days into the fifth week of lockdown is still higher than that achieved by the worst-hit countries after observing lockdown for the same period. Germany brought down the growth rate to 2%, while the US dropped it to 4.8%... (ET Healthworld – TNN, April 25, 2020)
