Coronavirus cases had a spike of 3000 for consecutive 3rd day, total count reaches 60000 mark

On Friday night India’s coronavirus count was around 300 short of the 60,000 mark, as fresh cases topped 3,000 for the 3rd consecutive day with Maharashtra adding more than 1,000 to the total count.

The coronavirus infection continued to rise in Tamil Nadu as it reported 600 fresh cases. The total new cases in Gujarat and Delhi were 390 and 338, respectively. In the meantime, West Bengal and Odisha reported their highest single-day counts with 130 and 51 fresh cases, respectively.

3,294 new cases were recorded from the states in the last 24-hours, which was little lower than the count of the last 2 days. India’s coronavirus count has reached 59,691 which is only 309 short for 60,000. The overall death count has reached at 1,983.

On Friday, Maharashtra recorded 1,089 new cases with the highest death count of 37, out of which 25 deaths were from Mumbai alone. Gujarat reported 24 deaths, followed by West Bengal (9), MP (8) and Rajasthan (4). 3 deaths each were recorded from UP and Tamil Nadu, 2 deaths from Delhi and one death each from Haryana, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.

The total coronavirus count in Gujarat has reached at 7,403 with 390 new cases reported in 24 hours till 5 p.m. on Friday.

Local critical care experts have stated that death count is increasing in Gujarat due to acute respiratory distress, severe thrombosis or abnormal blood clotting in lungs, heart, brain and other vital organs and hyper-inflammation triggered by COVID-19. Top doctors from AIIMS with institute director Dr Randeep Guleria have rushed to Ahmedabad to control the state going under an increasing death count.

Odisha reported 51 positive cases, taking its total count to 270. According to the authorities, many of the new cases are of migrant workers who had returned from Gujarat.
