India records over 4,000 COVID-19 cases in a single day

On Sunday, India recorded its highest single-day jump in coronavirus cases with the total number crossing 4,000. For the first time, the pandemic reached another high in Maharashtra, adding 1,943 cases which includes 665 from the previous few days.

A rise of 6.9% in a single day was seen with 4,308 cases been added to India’s coronavirus count. Although, Maharashtra has reported the lion’s share with Mumbai alone reporting 875 cases, the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to rise in Tamil Nadu with 669 new cases, Gujarat with 398 cases and Delhi with 381 cases.

The eastern states have started to feel the impact due to the return of migrant workers. On Sunday, West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar together reported 321 new cases.

India had reported total 113 deaths, out of which Maharashtra recorded its highest single-day death count of 53. The death count in the country has reached at 2,201, as per the reports from the state government.

In the meantime, the number of recovered people from the disease has increased to 20,848, which is 31% of all cases.

Tamil Nadu has reported the second highest count of COVID-19 cases after Maharashtra in the last few days and has overtaken Delhi to No.3 among coronavirus worse hit states.

Delhi reported 5 more deaths with 381 new cases. The total count of coronavirus in the national capital has reached to 6,923. Maharashtra’s COVID-19 count has reached 22,171 and 832 deaths have been reported in the state. Mumbai still remains the worst-affected city with a total of 13,739 cases and 508 deaths.
