India is the 12th worst-hit nation by COVID-19 as the total cases has reached 75,000-mark

On Tuesday, the number of new coronavirus cases across the country drop to a three-day low, even though India’s total number of cases reaching 75,000 mark. The death count from the coronavirus was 121, the 2nd highest in a single day till now.

India has overtaken Canada as the 12th worst-affected country in the world, with 74,347 coronavirus cases reported, which is one spot below China. Almost 3,543 fresh cases were reported by the states, which was lower than the numbers of cases in the 2 two days (3,613 and 4,308).

Maharashtra recorded almost 53 deaths on Tuesday due to coronavirus, accounting for 44% of the nationwide deaths reported in a day. Gujarat recorded 24 deaths, 21 deaths in Ahmedabad alone, whereas Delhi reported 13 deaths, which includes several deaths from the previous days. Delhi saw a rise of cases, as the city government confirmed 406 new cases with the previous day’s update, taking the total number of cases to over 7,500. Madhya Pradesh also saw a rise in cases, with 201 cases reported on Tuesday.

Maharashtra reported 1,026 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the total count in the state to 24,427. In the last 6 days, Maharashtra has added 8,902 cases, out of which more than 5,000 cases are from Mumbai. The city has recorded 426 cases on Tuesday, a lowest in the past 11 days and a drop of almost 46% as compared to the 782 cases that were recorded on Monday. The total number of cases in Mumbai on Tuesday has reached 14521.

The coronavirus cases continues to increase in Tamil Nadu, as it added another 716 new cases on Tuesday. Public health authorities revised their urban containment plan on Tuesday after Chennai reported more than 500 new cases continuously for the third day and the state’s count rose to 8,718. 8 deaths were also recorded taking the total count to 61.

In Uttar Pradesh, 112 new cases were reported. An assessment of the data had shown that 41% of the state’s coronavirus-affected districts had less than 10 cases each.
