COVID-19 cases crosses 75,000 mark in India

On Wednesday, India became the 12th nation to record over 75,000 coronavirus cases, as the country reported the 2nd highest single-day count of both new cases and deaths counts. Maharashtra has rose past the 25,000 mark in COVID-19 cases recorded till now.

Approximately 3,783 new cases were added to India’s coronavirus total count. The numbers were significantly lifted due to 1,495 new cases detected in Maharashtra. Other worst-hit states are Tamil Nadu with 509 new cases, Gujarat with 364 cases, Delhi with 359 cases, Rajasthan with 202 cases and MP with 187 cases continued to have high numbers of cases.

The coronavirus death count in Delhi has crossed 100, as 20 deaths were added on Wednesday. India reported 140 deaths out of which Maharashtra reported its highest count of 54 deaths till date.

The total COVID-19 cases reported in India had rose to 78,118, as per reports from several states.

As the coronavirus was showing some signs of slowing down, Maharashtra broke the 25000-mark and reached 25,922 positive cases with its third-highest jump in a single day. The overall death in the state is almost reaching towards the 1,000 mark. Maharashtra has added over 1,000 new cases every day since the last 8 days, which has contributed to a shocking 10,397 cases and 358 deaths.

Mumbai reported 800 cases on Wednesday and the city’s overall number of cases has reached 15,747. Also, out of the 54 deaths in Maharashtra, 40 deaths were from Mumbai, the highest in a single day.

10 new cases in Kerala were reported after a long time as the state had reported no new cases for several days. A truck driver from Wayanad, was found positive and become a super spreader by infecting at least 10 people in the past few days.

Tamil Nadu’s coronavirus count dropped slightly to 509 cases after the state had reported more than 700 new cases for two successive days. Out of the new cases, 380 cases were from Chennai. The states death count has reached 64.

Rajasthan recorded its highest single-day rise in cases as 202 people were found infected with the coronavirus on Wednesday. Out of them, 61 cases are from Jaipur. 4 people died due to COVID-19, taking the total count to 121.

Odisha also reported its highest jump in COVID-19 infections with 101 positive cases. Out of these, 90 cases were migrant workers who had returned from other states. The total number of positive cases has reached up to 538.

Assam recorded its highest single-day jump in cases with 15 people tested positive for COVID-19. All new cases are from Guwahati from a group of 32 close-contact people, who are now in home quarantine since Monday.
