Two studies in monkeys present the first scientific evidence that surviving COVID-19 may yield immunity from reinfection, a positive sign that vaccines currently under development may succeed, stated researchers.

In one of the studies, nine monkeys were infected with COVID-19. After they recovered, researchers exposed them to the virus again and the animals did not get sick. The findings suggested that they developed natural immunity. The findings were published in the journal Science… (Reuters, May 20, 2020)
