India reported over 6,000 new COVID-19 cases with 150 deaths in a single day

On Monday, India recorded above 6,000 new COVID-19 infections for the 4th successive day, however the count is slightly less than the numbers reported in the last 3 days.

Maharashtra saw a drop of almost 600 as compared with Sundays highest record of 3,041 COVID-19 cases in the state.

As per the data collected from state governments, Indias coronavirus total count has crossed over 1.42 lakh, with the addition of 6,087 cases.

Nagaland has become the 34th state/Union territory to report new coronavirus infections, as three people who had returned from Chennai were tested positive in the state.

150 coronavirus-related deaths were reported on the 2nd consecutive day where the death toll was 150 or more across the country. Maharashtra recorded 60 deaths out of them 38 were in Mumbai alone, Gujarat recorded 30 deaths, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh reported 15 and 10 deaths respectively.

Almost 28 states/UTs reported coronavirus cases during the day, possibly the highest number till now, demonstrating the spread of the virus throughout the country. Only the UTs of Lakshadweep and Daman & Diu are still free from the coronavirus, with no cases reported so far.

In a positive development, the number of recovered people from the infection has crossed the 60,000 mark at 60,699, hence a recovery rate of 42.6%, the highest till now.

Maharashtra, the worst-hit state by the pandemic, reported 2,436 fresh cases on Monday. Out of these, Mumbai recorded for 1,430 new infections, taking the total case count to 31,972. The states total count has reached 52,667. The states death toll has risen to 1,695.

Tamil Nadus COVID-19 surge continued persistently with 805 new cases on Monday, taking the total count to 17,082. The health authorities blamed it due to the entry of people from other states, especially from Maharashtra.

The death toll due to COVID-19 continued to rise in Gujarat as 30 people succumbed to the coronavirus in 24 hours, taking the death toll to 888. The state has reported 405 new cases, taking the total count to 14, 468.

In Rajasthan, four people died on Monday due to coronavirus, taking the death count in the state to 167, whereas 272 people were tested positive for COVID-19. The total count of positive COVID-19 cases has reached to 7,300.
