The death toll due to the coronavirus disease reached 606, said the authorities. On Tuesday, the highest single-day spike of 1,298 cases was recorded.

The Delhi health department said the number of cases has reached to 23,645 in the national capital. As per a report of the Death Audit Committee, the cumulative death count refers to fatalities as the primary cause of death was found to be COVID-19, on the basis of the case-sheets received from various hospitals.

The Delhi government had recently issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for all hospitals and other healthcare facilities about reporting fatalities due to COVID-19, due to criticism faced for "under reporting" COVID-19 deaths.

On Wednesday, three more hospitals were declared as dedicated COVID-19 facilities by the AAP government in Delhi. Moolchand Hospital and Saroj Super Speciality Hospital are declared as dedicated COVID-19 facilities and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Hospital is allowed to keep 20 percent of its beds for non-COVID patients, as per the order.

A five-member committee was formed by the Delhi government for healthcare infrastructure expansion and boosting the overall preparedness of hospitals to fight against COVID-19.

Nearly, 9,542 patients have recovered and been discharged or migrated, whereas there are 13,497 active cases. A total of 2,30,145 COVID-19 tests were conducted in Delhi till date. The total number of COVID-19 patients under home isolation was 8,405. Almost, 255 patients are on ventilators or in the ICU.

Also, the number of COVID-19 containment zones in Delhi has increased to 148 on Wednesday from 143, as per the bulletin. An official order is issued for the strategy for COVID-19 testing that has to be followed in Delhi.
