On Sunday, a video clip of a COVID-19 patient claiming negligence in treatment provided in a COVID- 19 hospital at Guntur district went viral on social media. But, the district medical and health officials said that the person was treated according to the protocol. In the video clip which was circulated, the patient was seen coughing continuously and he said that he was admitted to the hospital since 5 days and was suffering from breathlessness and high fever.
He mentioned that doctors were not attending him and he was not given any tablet for fever in the last five days. The patient, aged 38-year-old is from Tadikonda mandal and he was shifted to Katuri Medical College for treatment after being tested positive. Tadikonda SI Ch Rajasekhar reacted and spoke to the patient. DM&HO Dr Y Jasmin said that a team of doctors had examined the patient and provided all the necessary supplements as per the diagnosis.

It appears to be a 100% case of medical negligence and must be filed by the patient or his attendants. The protocol is an excuse to by pass the practice of diagnostics first and try the prescribe treatment as an immediate reaction to the medical test reports. Not attending the patients for days together is definitely a case of medical negligence.
