Dr Abhishek Bhayana aged 26 years passed away on Thursday morning. Hours before he passed away with complaints of chest congestion and breathlessness, he said to his elder brother Aman that he is having breathing issues and all his symptoms are of coronavirus and the test will be 100% positive. But he had tested negative twice for COVID-19.

Dr Abhishek was working as a junior resident doctor at Delhi’s Maulana Azad Institute for Dental Sciences (MAIDS). He was posted in the oral surgery department of the dental institute. He had secured 21st rank in the AIIMS MDS exam and had travelled to Rohtak on 26th June to appear for counselling session.

Abhishek’s family did his last rites on Friday afternoon. His friends and colleagues remember him as a doctor with unmatchable positive energy.

A senior doctor from MAIDS said that he was a diligent and hardworking doctor. In spite of having all the symptoms of COVID-19, he still tested negative and died of a heart attack.

Remembering the last night spent with his brother, Aman said that on Thursday morning, he felt dizzy. He was perfectly fine before that. His brother kept telling him that nothing would happen to him. His parents are in shock and still can’t believe he is not with them. Dr. Abhishek was about to turn 27 on 22nd July.

As per his family, he experienced coronavirus-like symptoms 10 days ago and complained of throat pain and cough. His brother said that they took him to a chest specialist and an X-ray was done suggesting chest infection. They thought it was nothing but only viral fever. But Abhishek kept saying that the symptoms are not of chest infection as he was suffering from shortness of breath. On Thursday, his condition worsened and was immediately rushed to a close private hospital.

The negative result might be due to several reasons. He kept saying he had symptoms of coronavirus till his last breath. The doctors started to administer oxygen to him but it was very late.
