Telangana government to absorb 1200 PG medical students to overcome shortage of doctors

The Telangana government has decided to deploy 1,200 PG medical students in government hospitals of the state. This major decision was taken to overcome the shortage of doctors amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Friday, the state government decided to fill 200 doctors vacancies in primary health centres (PHCs). All the medical and health staff would get a COVID incentive of 10 percent extra salary. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao took these decisions during a review meeting on COVID-19.

The state government instructed the private hospitals to announce and also display the vacant bed position on a regular basis.

Almost 3,692 COVID-19 patients are being treated in hospitals in Telangana, according to the statistics available till Thursday. All of these patients, except 200 patients with other health problems, were fast recovering. 41,018 COVID-19 cases were recorded and 27,295 (67%) had recovered till Thursday and almost 9,636 patients are in home quarantine.
