The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Bihar unit, has advised people to take advantage of the medical help without visiting the clinic of any doctor or any hospital.

On Monday, the message was released after hectic debates by experts at an emergent meeting of the executive committee of the IMA. It mentions staying at home and getting in contact with their doctors via telephone or mobile phone for management of both symptomatic and asymptomatic symptoms during this COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was chaired by President Dr Bimal Karak. He appealed to the people to take the help of nearest IMA members via phone. IMA Secretary Dr Sunil Kumar also said that they had spoken to the IMA doctors in Kerala, who also supported the process of motivating people regarding home isolation.

The IMA has released a list of almost 40 doctors that includes the executive committee members along with their phone numbers, which is available 24x7 for telemedicine facilities. The IMA has set up helplines in all the districts and also even in a few sub- divisions.

Dr Sunil said that the IMA held a zoom meeting with Prataya Amrit, the principal secretary of the health department, who had informed him that around six of his staff have tested COVID-19 positive. Amrit also guaranteed that the doctors’ body will also extend support from the government.

The IMA also explained people to strictly follow the standards of social distancing, use masks and wash hands regularly with soaps for prevention of coronavirus infection.
