8 COVID-19 patients died due to fire in Ahmedabad's hospital

On Thursday, a blaze broke in the early hours at a private hospital in Ahmedabad. According to a fire brigade official, eight COVID-19 patients’were found dead.He said that the fire broke out around 3.30 am on Thursday.

Theofficial informed that the victims include three womenand five men who were undergoing treatment at the ICU ward of the COVID-19 designated Shrey Hospital in Ahmedabad’s Navrangpura area. Almost 40 other coronavirus patients at the facility were saved and shifted to another civic hospital in the city.The reasonfor the fire outbreak is still not known.

PM Modi said that ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from Prime Ministers National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will be given to the relatives of those who had lost their lives because of the hospital fire in Ahmedabad. Also, Rs. 50,000 each will be given to those injured in the hospital fire incident.

On Wednesday, with 1,073 fresh coronavirus positive cases, Gujarats COVID-19 count reached 66,777. The number of total deaths has also reached up to 2,557.
