Agra: A medical officer has been arrested from Jalaun district in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly killing a female doctor of the S N Medical College, Agra. Officials stated that 26-year-old Dr Yogita Gautams body was found along an isolated road in Agras Dauki area on Wednesday morning. Her identity was ascertained in the evening. The body was found to have injury marks.

Dr Vivek Tiwari, the accused, was a senior of Dr Gautam at their medical school in Moradabad. Officials reported that Dr Tiwari was allegedly harassing Dr Gautam and was forcing her into marrying him.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police, Agra, Babloo Kumar, Dr Gautam, who was pursuing MD at the S N Medical College, went missing on Tuesday. Her family approached the local police after they noted that her mobile phone was not reachable. An FIR was lodged.

Kumar further stated that in their complaint, Dr Gautam’s family alleged that Dr Tiwari often called her, and harassed and threatened her. Dr Tiwari is the medical officer at Jalaun Medical College at present.

The Agra Police collaborated with the officers in Jalaun district, and the accused was eventually arrested. According to Kumar, injury marks were visible on Dr Gautams head and neck and there were other struggle marks as well.

The body was sent for post mortem and the accused was being interrogated… (ET Healthworld – PTI)
