On Tuesday morning, Doctors at North MCD’s Hindu Rao Hospital did a pen-down strike for 2-3 hours for the delay in the salary. This issue rocked the civic body’s House meeting later in the day.

They had launched an online campaign and have posted pictures with the text — ‘Doctors on COVID duty, Unpaid Day 106, Hindu Rao Hospital Delhi’. The pictures are posted on their social media from Monday along with the change in days updated regularly.

General-secretary of the hospital’s Resident Doctors’ Association, Dr Sagar Deep, said that doctors are going to hold two-hour protests daily till their salaries are being paid. Doctors risking their lives are not being paid in spite of regular protests. They were paid last in June.

In the meantime, North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash said that he had suspended almost 20 of the 30 AAP councillors for three house meetings for “misbehaving and creating ruckus” in its proceedings on Tuesday. The agenda was then fixed on discussion of salaries of the employees. They had created commotion and demanded details of corruption allegations about a health officer, and also details of money due to the North MCD by several agencies. They created so much ruckus with the only intention of not letting any discussion happen.

North MCD’s opposition leader Vikas Goel said that AAP leaders were not given any time to speak and raise their issue of corruption by a medical health officer. They also asked them to specify all the agencies that were owing money to the MCD, for which they did not have any answer. They only blame the Delhi government for everything. Doctors and nurses in other North MCD-run hospitals too are holding protests.
