Delhi's COVID-19 cases tally reaches to 3 lakh with 2,871 new cases

On Wednesday, with 35 casualties, the death count due to COVID-19 in Delhi has reached 5,616. The number of new coronavirus cases was 2,871, taking the total to more than 2.98 lakh. The new cases were identified after conducting 51,505 tests the previous day.

The active case count had dropped to 22,186 on Wednesday from 22,720 cases on Tuesday, according to a health bulletin, which was released by Delhi government. On Wednesday, the positivity rate was 5.6%, whereas the recovery rate had crossed 90% and the case fatality rate was at 1.9%.

Health minister Satyendar Jain also held a meeting with medical directors and superintendents of almost all Delhi government hospitals to evaluate the status of testing. The government has considerably ramped up testing in the last few days and the count has crossed the 60,000-mark several times.

On Tuesday, the number of rapid antigen tests conducted were at 42,446, whereas RT-PCR, CBNAAT and True Nat records were 9,059, all adding to 51,505. The number of tests conducted per million as on Wednesday was more than 1.8 lakh, whereas the total number of tests has reached at more than 34 lakh.

As per the bulletin, till now, 2, 70,305 patients have been cured, been discharged or migrated. From September, the daily count of cases were increasing, but from the last week of September, it is dropping down.

The bulletin also stated that, out of the 15,830 beds in COVID hospitals, 10,443 beds were lying vacant, whereas at COVID care centres, 942 beds were occupied by people who are under quarantine. The number of people in home isolation has reduced to 12,691 on Wednesday as compared to 13,178 on Tuesday.
