Over 2.3k healthcare staff infected by COVID-19 in Delhi

New Delhi: A report by the committee of experts headed by Dr VK Paul from Niti Aayog has shown that 2,324 healthcare workers have been infected by the novel coronavirus in Delhi till date. The committee submitted the report to the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.

Among the affected healthcare workers, 23% were doctors, 34% nurses, 15% paramedics, 18% Group-D staff and 10% other employees. Seventy five workers, including 14 doctors, have died due to COVID-19. The report does not provide separate figures for government and private facilities.

The committee has advised the government to initiate efforts to prevent infection in hospitals and laboratories as well as among field workers conducting surveys in containment zones… (ET Healthworld, October 10, 2020)
