India records lowest spike in 3 months with 36,000 new COVID-19 cases

On Tuesday, Indias total count of COVID-19 cases was at 79,46,429, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. A spike of 36,470 new COVID-19 cases with 488 deaths in 24 hours was reported, which was the lowest spike in the last three months.

The recorded spike in fresh cases was 45,148 on Monday. Out of the total coronavirus cases that were recorded on Tuesday, 6,25,857 patients are currently active, 72,01,070 patients are discharged and 1,19,502 patients had lost their lives against the coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare presented that the recovery rate of the country is at 90.23 percent and the fatality rate is 1.50 percent.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state with a total number of 16,48,665 cases, which includes 43,348 deaths. It is followed by Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

As per the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research, on Monday, India had conducted 9,58,116 sample tests in a single day, taking the total number of tested samples to 10,44,20,894.
