The Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy – develops and provides information on a wide range of immune-mediated disorders, including advice about infant feeding and allergy prevention for health professionals and families.

The purpose of an article published in The Medical Journal of Australia was to enlist guidelines for infant feeding and early onset allergy prevention, based on emerging evidence.

Recommendations primarily suggest that when the infant is ready—at around 6 months, but not before 4 months—a variety of solid foods should be introduced. Solid food introduction must not be delayed beyond 12 months. Peanuts and eggs must be introduced in the first year of life in all infants, regardless of their allergy risk factors. Hydrolyzed (partially and extensively) formula is no longer recommended for the prevention of allergic disease.
