COVID 19 continues to affect the world, and in recent research, it was suggested that some COVID-19 patients experience long-lasting skin symptoms that may change based on the type of COVID-19 skin rash.

In the study, an analysis of the largest registry of COVID-19 patients with dermatological symptoms has shown a subset of patients referred to as “long COVID,” who experience prolonged symptoms which last for over 60 days on their skin.

Data obtained from 990 cases from 39 countries input into the registry, revealed an average duration of 12 days for all dermatological symptom, with some lasting as long as over 150 days.

The dermatologic manifestations seen in COVID 19 patients included urticaria lasting for average five days, pernio/chilblains (COVID toes) lasting 15 days but may stay up to 130-150 days, and papulosquamous eruptions-scaly papules and plaques are seen for 20 days. This has implications for understanding the prolonged inflammatory response in some patients after infection.
