In a clinical study, Dewderm AD cream was proven to be effective in treating mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis by significantly reducing the disease severity without any side effects.

Atopic dermatitis, or eczema, is the most widespread, chronic, itchy, ad relapsing inflammatory skin disease. The clinical features of atopic dermatitis include multiple lesions with erythema, excoriation, erosions accompanied by a serous exudate, accentuated skin markings, fibrotic papules, extremely dry skin, and susceptibility to cutaneous infections. Even though the pathogenesis of the disease is not entirely known, it is observed that it may result from the complex interaction between defects in skin barrier function, environmental and infectious agents, and immune abnormalities.

Dewderm AD is a cream formulated with a combination of niacinamide, Aloe vera juice, allantoin, Amaranthuscaudatus extract, Panthenol, hydrogenated avocado oil, Avenasativa (oat) kernel oil, Hordeum vulgare extract and tocopheryl acetate. In the study, 36 patients with mild to moderate atopic dermatitis between 5-55 years of age were treated for 60 days. Thecream was applied twice daily on the affected area. The results of this study showed that treatment with Dewderm AD cream led to statistically significant improvement in all the efficacy parameters at different time points from baseline to end of the study. The benefits were seen in an increase in mean skin surface hydration, reduction in the severity of skin lesionswhen the treatment period finishes, which was reflective of a progressive improvement in the disease severity. The results of this study established that the Dewderm AD cream is a safe and effective treatment option in patients suffering from mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis. Most of the patients in the study were relieved of the symptoms, which could be attributed to the combined action of active ingredients present in the formulation responsible for hydrating and preventing trans-epidermal water loss of the skin. This action promotes rapid healing of skin lesions in dermatitis; with the current recommendation being twice a day application in patients with mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis.
