The Union Health Ministry has stated that India continues to have one of the lowest deaths per million globally. The ministry also emphasized that a specific measure to ensure a low and manageable mortality rate has led to a daily mortality rate below 500. The overall recovery rate is nearing 94%.

Across India, eight states-Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Haryana, Punjab, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, contributed almost 71% in the number of fatalities on Sunday. Maharashtra leads the tally with 89 deaths, followed by Delhi with 68 deaths and West Bengal with 54 deaths.

The ministry also emphasized that there is no need to worry about vaccines storage as there is a substantial number of health care facilities, like mohalla clinics, polyclinics, and hospitals where a COVID-19 vaccine can be administered to people.
