COVID-19 cases decline in India, fall below 30,000-mark

New daily COVID-19 cases in the country fell below the 30,000-mark on Thursday for the third time since July 13, continuing with the declining trend that is being seen since its peak on September 17.

This represents the first time since July 13 when daily cases have declined below 30,000 on a day other than Monday. However, despite the consistent fall, India is world’s third largest contributor of daily coronavirus cases. US leads with 2.2 lakh daily cases while Brazil is second with more than 50,000 cases. With 29,497 new cases on Thursday, India’s COVID caseload stood at 97,97,150. Total recoveries stood at 92,89,743, while actives cases came down by around 9,000 to reach 3,65,229… (ET Healthworld – TNN, December 11, 2020)
