Osmania hospital physician booked for stalking NIMS doctor in Hyderabad

A doctor has been booked at the Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad by the Punjagutta police for allegedly harassing a woman to marry him. The victim is a 22-year-old and a 2nd year resident doctor in the anaesthesia department at NIMS. She has lodged a complaint against Dr Sidhardh, who is a physician at Osmania Hospital, accusing of stalking and harassing her.

D Nagaraju, Sub-Inspector said that under Sections 354D and 506 of the IPC, a caseis registered against him and investigation is ongoing.

The police informed that the woman doctor became friends with Sidhardh on Facebook as both being doctors, had several common friends on the social media platform. He later proposed to her for marriage but she refused his proposal. However, they continued to be good friends.

In the meantime, the woman received marriage proposals but found that the probable grooms were getting abusive and spreading false messages about her. She suspected Sidhardh and confronted him but he refused his involvement. Again, when she cornered him later, he said that he along with his friend were sending the messages. He has been stalking and harassing her on calls and messages. His sister too helped him and called her continuously. The woman also alleged that Sidhardh’s family is pressuring her to marry him, in spite of knowing the present situation.

On the night of 7th December, Sidhardh had barged her into a room and locked her for an hour. At midnight, in a drunken state he created annoyance outside the college hostel. Police personnel were positioned at the outpost in the hospital campus and they rushed to the spot and controlled him. Even after this incident, he continued to stalk and call the woman, her brother and friends.
