As per ICMR, 2000 volunteers are needed to be part of the trial. However, only 128 volunteers have registered at Sion hospital, while 368 at JJ hospital so far. The doctors involved in vaccine trials are afraid that this may further delay the compulsory completion of the clinical trial process. In the last week of October, the ICMR selected two hospitals: the Lokmanya Tilak General Hospital (Sion hospital) and Sir J J Hospital in Parel for the pan-Indian clinical trial Covaxin, manufactured by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech. Dr. Dinesh Modi, the in charge of the trial at J J Hospital, said, "earlier we were getting 30-35 volunteers for the trial. However, now, it has gone down to 10-12 volunteers. Many of them opt out of the trial after filling up the consent forms."
