The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has insisted Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Chief Minister to take strict action against the principal health secretary of the state over his "derogatory" comments against the doctors. The IMA has said that the comments of the health secretary are "insulting" to the medical fraternity and a suitable action should be taken.

On 30th December, Principal Health Secretary Dr Nitin Kulkarni said that people become doctors so that they dont have to work in future. Also, few of them want to become doctor for getting handsome dowry. He said so while addressing the newly appointed doctors in Jharkhand and these comments were made in front of the states health minister.

A joint allocation of IMA and the Jharkhand Health Service Association will meet Health Minister Banna Gupta to register their objection regarding the officials comments. From the time the remarks got published in the media, doctors associations in Jharkhand are annoyed and are demanding action against Kulkarni. Almost, 280 doctors are given appointment letters at the event where he made his bizarre comment about the medical fraternity. Dr Kulkarni could not be traced for his comments regarding this controversy despite repeated attempts.
