On Wednesday, India crossed the one-crore mark in coronavirus recoveries. It became the first country in the world to report above 10 million recovered patients even though the daily new cases are above 20,000 for the first time in the past seven days.

On Wednesday, 19,694 discharges were reported from the hospitals and the number of patients cured reached the count 1,00,15,925, translating a recovery rate of 96.3%. However, as the pandemic is slowing down with the daily cases decreasing in the last three months, the speed of recoveries, too, has slowed down as the patient discharges from hospitals have reached a saturation point. It almost took 18 days to break the eight-million mark of recoveries on 10th November from the earlier seven-million mark. The next one million recoveries were reported after 23 days on 3rd December and it took almost 34 days to break the following one million mark with recoveries that crossed one crore on Wednesday.

Health ministry data has shown that initially from 11% India reported 1000 recoveries, there was a steady increase in the recovery rate. By 3rd June, more than one lakh Indians recovered. By the end of September month, India saw more than five million patients recovered.
