Doctors in India doctors have warned about the sale of illegal COVID-19 vaccines in the black market, as certain vendors are asking for bitcoin as payment and it is illegal. As per the doctors, the illegal marketing of the vaccine to the top is wide spread in the state of Karnataka. Few doctors said that the Indian government should interfere by chasing these vendors.

As per the media reports from India, it confirmed that doctors are getting calls from VIP patients, who want to know whether the COVID-19 vaccines which are provided by certain dealers are genuine and can also be taken. For example, the Indian Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes’ Association (Phana) President has agreed about learning these vaccine sales.

The Phana president, Dr. HM Prasannain one report has claimed that he had heard that certain vaccines are administered to residents for bitcoin. Prasanna has condemned the unsanctioned sales and has asked the probable buyers of the unsanctioned vaccines to exercise caution and follow the government’s guidelines.

The reports of unproven COVID-19 vaccines getting exchanged for bitcoin are coming up as the distribution of these vaccines in the country is still considered as illegal. Resorting to the illegal vaccine reports, Indian doctors have insisted that citizens should wait for the government to roll out the vaccine by the Drug Controller General of India.

Giridhara Babu, who is an epidemiologist and also a member of the Technical Advisory Committee in Karnataka for COVID-19 management, said that he has not come across any such news about vaccines in the black market. Babu, is urging the Indian government to crack down on the illegal vaccine vendors. He also claimed that the sale and distribution of such unauthorized COVID-19 vaccines can worsen the discriminations as only those people with money and power can gain access to it.

He further explained that those taking such vaccines must be under the impression that it is an immunity booster, but can end up taking a useless product. In the meantime, India is set to initiate its COVID-19 vaccination drive from 16th January and the first priority will be given to healthcare and frontline workers and staff.
