NEW DELHI: On November 14, 2020, when the capital was battling its third and deadliest Covid wave, 7,340 new cases and a positivity rate of 14.8% had been recorded. The number of active cases stood at 44,456 that day, the highest till date. Nine weeks from that Saturday, the number of active cases has crashed by 93.9% to 2,691 on January 16, when the first phase of vaccination started. Over the past 24 hours, 299 new Covid-19 cases have been reported with a positivity rate of 0.4%. ISLAMABAD: AstraZenecas Covid-19 vaccine has been granted approval for emergency use in Pakistan, the countrys health minister said on Saturday, the first vaccine against the disease to be given the green light in the South Asian country. "DRAP granted emergency use authorisation to AstraZenecas Covid vaccine," Pakistans Health Minister Faisal Sultan told Reuters, referring to the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan.

Anvisa sends back request for EUA of Sputnik V vaccine

Anvisa, Brazilian health regulator, said it sent back documents submitted by pharma company Uniao Quimica seeking approval for emergency use of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine because they did not meet the minimum criteria required. In a statement on the Health Ministry website, Anvisa said the firm’s request failed to provide adequate assurances on its Phase III clinical trials and issues related to the manufacture of the vaccine.

Covid-19 positivity rate in Delhi drops to 0.44%

NEW DELHI : As many as 295 fresh Covid-19 cases were recorded in Delhi in last 24-hours taking the positivity rate to 0.44%, informed Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Sunday. "We can assume that the third-wave of Covid-19 has come to an end as the number of cases in Delhi has declined," Jain said adding that wearing masks is still mandatory for precautionary measures.

One “severe” and 51 “minor” cases of AEFI (adverse events following immunisation) were reported among health workers who were administered the coronavirus vaccine in Delhi on the first day of the COVID-19 vaccination drive on Saturday, official figures showed. Against a target of 8,117 health workers to be vaccinated on the first day of the drive in 11 districts of Delhi, a total of 4,319 were administered the vaccine, figures showed.
