As of January 13, the B.1.1.7 variant of SARS-CoV-2 was identified in 76 cases across 10 states in the US, reported researchers in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR). India lost seven times more doctors than soldiers in 2020

The bigger battle in the year 2020 was fought in hospitals, where several frontline health workers lost their lives in the line of duty during the coronavirus pandemic. The lives lost by the Indian doctors were seven times more than the casualties in the Indian armed forces in 2020. At least 734 doctors died in their line of duty while 106 personnel of the security forces made supreme sacrifices in the last year.

Indian firms express interest in procuring vaccines for employees

Several Indian companies are considering buying COVID-19 vaccines for their employees, once they become available commercially. India vaccinated 148,266 people on Monday, taking the total to 381,305, the health ministry said. Jindal Steel and Power, Mahindra Group and ITC have begun initial checks on vaccines being available to buy after the government covers priority segments. Tata Steel said it would get employees inoculated as soon as shots were available commercially.
