1 in 4 Children in India, 10-17 Years of Age, May Have COVID-19: Sero Survey

A government serological survey has revealed that over a quarter of Indian children, 10 to 17 years of age, may already have had COVID-19. The figure is higher than that for the overall population found to have contracted COVID-19, which stands at 21.5%.

The survey included over 35,700 individuals above 10 years old, and was conducted over the last two months. Separate tests involving over 700,000 people by Thyrocare Technologies suggested that 55% of the individuals across the country may have already contracted the infection.

India’s official COVID-19 case numbers stand at 10.8 million. However, the national survey has indicated that over 290 million individuals across the country may have already had COVID-19… (NDTV – Reuters, February 4, 2021)
