Bharat Biotech, the developer of Covaxin, the indigenous vaccine against COVID-19, will likely start trials for children by February-end or early March this year.

According to sources, a leading children’s hospital in Nagpur has been identified as one of the sites to conduct the trials on children. The trials will begin as soon as Bharat Biotech receives a formal approval from the Government of India. Dr Ashish Tajne, coordinator for these trials, stated that this is going to be the first such trial in the world where children, from toddlers to teenagers, will be included.
