Two baby boys die after taking pentavalent vaccine in Coimbatore

On Wednesday, two infants died within hours of receiving the pentavalent and rotavirus vaccines in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The state health secretary along with the immunization experts said that the immunization dose was not possible to be the cause of the deaths. 
 
The children who were both the boys and aged two-and-a half months, were immunized at different places. One boy was vaccinated with thirteen other babies at an anganwadi at Masakalipalayam, Coimbatore at 10.30a.m. on Wednesday. 
 
The boy was declared dead after a couple of hours as he was immediately hospitalized with breathing problems. The second baby was given pentavalent, rotavirus and polio vaccines at the Sowripalayam PHC on Wednesday morning.
