Australia has started its mass COVID-19 vaccination program with frontline healthcare workers and the elderly getting the first doses.
Twenty people, including Prime Minister Scott Morrison, were administered the first doses of the vaccine on Sunday. A wider vaccine rollout began on Monday and over 60,000 doses are expected to be administered by the end of this week. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is being rolled out initially as the country expects AstraZeneca vaccine’s first batch to reach in the coming two weeks. Authorities intend to vaccinate four million individuals by the month of March and expect to complete the vaccinations by the end of October… (Reuters, February 22, 2021)
