On Monday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Delhis AIIMS.

The PM after taking the COVID shot said in a tweet that it is remarkable that our doctors and scientists have worked in speed to strengthen the global fight against coronavirus. He has appealed to all those individuals who are eligible to take the vaccination. He further wrote let us make India Covid-19 free together.

India is prepared to enter the second phase of COVID-19 immunizations from Monday onwards, as the registrations will open at 9 am for senior citizens (60 years and above) and for those aged between 45 to 60 years with comorbidities. The extension of the vaccine initiative has an objective to cover a total of 30 crore “priority” population at a critical stage as several states are observing an increase in COVID-19 cases.

The eligible people have to register on the COWIN 2.0 portal or via other IT applications for receiving the shot. An individual can register as many as four recipients with a single mobile number. The recipients will have to produce the identity proofs separately.

The government has listed seven photo identity documents used for online registration: Aadhaar Card/Letter, Passport, Driving License, Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), PAN Card, Pension Document with photograph and NPR Smart Card.

In the meantime, the immunization is provided at 10,000 government medical facilities and more than 20,000 private hospitals.
