Delhi's COVID-19 positivity rate is at 0.35%

On Wednesday, Delhi recorded three mortalities because of COVID-19 and 240 fresh cases taking the city’s infection total count to 6,39,921. According to the health department, the positivity rate of Delhi was 0.35%. 68,831 tests were conducted on Monday that included 44,886 RT-PCR and 23,945 Rapid Antigen tests. 196 people have recovered from the infection in the capital city on Wednesday and almost 6.27 lakh people have recovered till date.

The number of people who are under home isolation has reached 826 on Wednesday, from 777 on Tuesday. A total number of 5,711 beds are designated for COVID-19 patients in Delhi. Out of them, 513 beds are occupied and 5,198 beds are vacant, as per the data. Doctors are stressing more on the need to continue wearing masks along with sanitising or washing hands regularly to prevent the disease spread.

Doctors are saying that the arrival of COVID-19 caused by new strains of the virus is a major concern. Delhi should be on high alert to identify new clusters of COVID-19 and carry out tests to exclude any such possibility in future. The appearance of newer strains of virus is not uncommon and it is important to record such cases to detect any significant changes that can affect the transmissibility or virulence of the coronavirus disease.
