India administered close to 17 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses till 9 pm on Monday, which is the highest number of doses administered in one day thus far. 

 

More than 71% of these doses were given to individuals above 60 years of age and those aged 45 to 60 years with comorbidities. Overall, 2.2 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far, since the launch of the country-wide vaccination drive on January 16. Around 37.1 lakh healthare and 3.1 lakh frontline workers have been vaccinated with two doses till now.
