17 junior doctors in Hyderabad admitted due to food poisoning

Almost 17 students of Osmania Medical College (OMC) were rushed to the Gandhi Hospital late Monday night after they started to complain of severe diarrhoea and nausea. The students are from different batches and were diagnosed with food poisoning and are undergoing treatment at the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.

The investigation is ongoing to find whether these students got the infection from any staff at the college canteen, who was already suffering from fever, chills and diarrhoea. The staff of the canteen will also undergo the medical investigations.

Dr P Shashikala, Principal of Osmania Medical College said that the health status of the students is stable and they will get discharged by Tuesday night. They were admitted in a dedicated ward for only doctors at Gandhi Hospital.
